Introducing The Murphy Cabinet Beds

10/29/2019

Wilding Wallbeds has always been on the cutting edge of space-saving beds. They have been designing and building custom all-wood Murphy Beds for over 20 years. As the company has grown and the technology has improved they have always been on the front end of finding other great ways to get multipurpose out of your guestroom. They have introduced items such as the Disappearing Desk Bed, the Bookcase Wall bed, the Studio Desk, and the Sofa Murphy Bed. These items are all unique and allow you to get more use out of your murphy bed and more use out of your room. Wilding Wallbeds has once again expanded its line of fine furniture, this time to include Murphy Cabinet Beds, also known as Chest beds. This new line is meant to cater to those looking to save space and money. This furniture line fills a gap for those wanting space-saving furniture, but their space doesn’t quite fit the mold for a traditional Murphy Style bed.

What is a Murphy Cabinet Bed?

A Chest Bed is a queen size bed that folds up into an attractive chest. Murphy Cabinet Beds or Chest Beds are another great space-saving option. Every Wilding Wallbed Murphy Cabinet Bed comes with a comfortable 6” Gel-Infused Memory Foam Mattress. This mattress is designed to tri-fold into the cabinet for storing, and to serve as a comfortable place for your guests to sleep. Murphy Chest beds are a great option for any living room, den, TV room, family room, or multipurpose room that needs to serve as a guestroom as well. These stylish chests completely hide the bed leaving your room neat and clear but can be transformed into a comfortable guest bed in a matter of seconds.

Wilding Wallbed’s Murphy Cabinet beds are available in 4 different styles: Poppy, Clover, Sagebrush, and Cube. This allows you to choose the style that best matches the motif of your room. These beds are also available in several colors so you are sure to find a combination that will compliment your existing furniture. The Poppy, Clover, and Sagebrush all use the same mechanism, so they open the same and have the same dimensions. The Cube Murphy Cabinet Bed, which is the most economical style, is constructed differently and opens differently than the other Murphy Cabinet Beds.

One of the biggest benefits to the Murphy Cabinets beds is the fact that they are free-standing. The cabinets don’t mount to the wall or the floor. This makes it easy to move it across the room or across the country. This also makes it a great option for condos, apartments, dorms, and rentals, where there may be strict rules about attaching things to the wall.

Poppy, Clover and Sagebrush Styles

As I said early the Poppy, Clover, and Sagebrush all use the same mechanism. This unique design has some great benefits. The top of the Murphy Cabinet Bed is made out of two separate pieces; the front portion folds down and becomes part of the mattress support, the rear portion is stationary. This stationary shelf allows you to position your TV, knick-knacks, art, or anything else you would like on top of the unit both as a chest and as a bed. Another great feature of these models is that each bed includes a large functional drawer. This drawer rolls on casters allowing access while as a chest and as a bed as well. This makes it a great place to store linens when the bed is folded up, and for your guests to store their clothing or other belongings while the bed is in use. Additionally, each bed also comes with a Power Outlet. This outlet is located on the right-hand side of the cabinet at the base. This power outlet features two 110 outlets and a USB for charging. Another great feature of the Poppy, Clover, and Sagebrush, is the Flip-Up Trays. These are conveniently placed nightstands that fold up out of the sides of Murphy Cabinet Beds. They create a nice shelf for your guests to put their phones, books, glasses, and beverages. The Flip-Up Trays come standard on the Poppy and Sagebrush styles, and they can be added to the Clover style.

Cube Style

The Cube style Murphy Cabinet Bed is a great option for those with a limited budget. You’ll find that this unique bed also converts from chest to bed and back again quickly and easily. The Cube model arrives at your home completely disassembled and comes with great step by step instructions. Having you handle the assembly allows Wilding Wallbeds to keep the cost lower, offering you an inexpensive space-saving option, and also makes it simple to move into your room of choice. The Cube bed’s overall height is also the shortest of the chest beds making it a great option to sit under a wall-mounted TV or under a window. The whole idea behind the Cube is to make something attractive but simple.

The Mattress

A bed is only as comfortable as the mattress you put on it. In the case of the Murphy Cabinet beds, the 6” gel-infused memory foam mattress was designed with comfort and durability in mind. The seams in the mattress are specially designed to mold together so as you lay on the mattress you can’t feel the seams at all. The mattress is firm and supportive ensuring that your guests have a comfortable night’s rest. If the mattress is too firm for your liking, you can easily put a mattress topper on the mattress when it is in use. The mattress is standard queen-size (roughly 60” wide and 80” long). The same mattress is used on all of the styles of Murphy Cabinet Bed, so you can rest assured that regardless of the style and color you choose, the mattress is the highest quality available.

Other Information

Wilding Wallbed’s Murphy Cabinet Beds are each made out of real hardwood and furniture grade plywood, with the exception of the Sagebrush style. The Sagebrush is also all wood, with the exception of the large, flat, face panel, which is constructed using a hardwood veneer over an MDF Core. The MDF core allows for the large flat panel design without warping. Each Murphy Cabinet Bed has a limited 10-year warranty and is rated to 600 lbs. The new Murphy Cabinet line will start at $1499 with the upper end peaking at $2199. This new line will continue Wilding Wallbeds “tradition” of providing quality real wood products while introducing something “new and cutting edge” to our customers.
