Make your guests feel at-home with comfortable reading lights in your Murphy bed.
While we have an extensive line of Murphy beds that are available in king size, if you’ve spent any time searching for a king size Murphy bed you’ve likely found that king size Murphy beds are few and far between. Every Murphy bed manufacturer in the world builds queens, fulls, and twins, but kings are tough to find. Why?
King size Murphy beds represent a unique challenge due to their immense weight. A king mattress is usually about 25% heavier than a comparable queen mattress. This means the mechanism that helps lift and lower your bed must lift 25% more weight in order to allow you to comfortably and safely operate your Murphy bed. This is no small feat when you consider that Murphy bed mechanisms are carefully calibrated to create the most comfortable experience.
King size Murphy beds also present an issue when it comes to shipping and navigating tight hallways and stairways due to their size. This same problem is the reason king box springs are split into two pieces; otherwise you couldn’t get them into most rooms easily.
