Wilding Wallbeds is helping you out with four fabulous options! Since their first day in business, Wilding Wallbeds has been approached by the Do-It-Yourself customers who asked for a kit or a mechanism and instructions so they could get their fingers in the project. “We find the Do-It-Yourself customers are motivated by one of two things. 1 – They are simply looking for the least expensive way to own a Wallbed, or 2 – They are weekend woodworkers that want a challenge and want to build something they can call their very own”, explains Dan Wilding of Wilding Wallbeds. “We love the DIY concept, after all, that’s how we got into the business of wall beds to begin with,” Dan continues. So, to respond to the Do-It-Yourself customers, Wilding Wallbeds has created four levels of DIY products with varying complexity for those weekend woodworkers.

  1. Mechanism Only
  2. DIY Kit
  3. Banded and Sanded Kit
  4. Finished but Disassembled

DIY Tools Wilding Wallbed backs up each of these options with additional items like crown molding and face trims so the DIY customer can produce the look that they are going for. When selecting one of these DIY options you also get all of the quality that you see in Wilding Wallbeds other products. The wood products offered and the mechanisms used are identical to all of Wilding Wallbeds Studio Series products. With all of the options listed, you also get a great set of instructions that are easy to understand and easy to follow. Finally, Wilding Wallbeds is only a call away if you find yourself needing just a bit of guidance. What a great group of options! Now, let’s get into the sawdust.

1. Mechanism Only

The Mechanism only option is a fabulous choice for the more hardy woodworker. This kit will require more woodworking skill as compared to the other options. This option will provide the DIY customer all of the instructions they need to accomplish the project. This kit comes complete with all the metal mechanism parts and hardware needed. Customers who select this option will supply their own wood for the project. This gives the DIY customer full creative license. They get to be creative with any trims and color they’ll choose to finish the project in. They will also have the freedom to create any additional side cabinetry for the additional storage they may need in the room.

Once this project is completed, these weekend woodworkers will be able to look back and know that this is their very own creation.

2. Do-It-Yourself Kit

DIY Mechanism The Do-it-Yourself Kit comes complete with the instructions, hardware, Murphy Bed mechanism as well as the edge tape and all of the wood components needed for the project. Additionally, the wood components have all the necessary mechanism holes drilled precisely by a CNC router. The cut outs for base boards are already in place. This kit comes prepared for the DIY project to add the Wilding Wallbed Light Kit too. The back edge of the side boards are grooved for the power cord, so the cord for the lights will not be seen. To support the creativity of the DIY project, Wilding offers a series of crown and base moldings as well as a series of face trims. The DIY customer can choose the trims they want, then using their own creativity,  can apply the trims in the design they desire.

The instructions for this Do-it-Yourself Kit will explain the process of applying this edge tape to the sides of the Murphy Bed Face panels, Side Boards, Headboard, Bridge Board and stretchers. Your last step will be applying the finish that you want. The green bed image, was accomplished using a Shaker Trim available as an option. This DIY customer found and applied their own handles and barn door hardware. DIY Mechanism

This kit is identical to the Do-it-Yourself Kit, except the customer does not need to apply the edge banding themselves. In this case, the edge banding is applied by Wilding Wallbed’s computerized machinery in the Production center. This kit utilizes all of the precision that Wilding offers in any of their other wall beds and Murphy Beds. The quality of the mechanism is identical to their other wall beds and Murphy Beds. Now you have the option to finish it the way you want it. As with the other kits, you can add the optional trim kits too.

4. Finished but Disassembled

Professionally finished Wilding Wallbed Professionally finished Wilding Wallbed This kit is the most simple, where the Do-it-Yourself concept is concerned. These units come with the mechanism and the plywood parts are banded and sanded. Additionally, they are professionally finished by Wilding Wallbed in the requested color selection. Opting to have Wilding Wallbeds finish the product insures a long lasting furniture quality finish that will be beautiful for decades. The mechanism is warranted for life. These units arrive at the customer’s home disassembled and simply need to be assembled by the customer. As with the other Do-it-Yourself options, additional cabinetry is available.
