Anaheim California Home Show

Wilding Wallbeds participated in the recent Anaheim Home and Garden Show in Anaheim CA, which was held Sept. 16th-24th, 2006. We enjoy participating at the home and garden shows because it puts us face to face with our customers. As expected, response to the product was great! Traffic at the show was way down, probably due to sky-high gas prices which is contributing to consumers reluctance to travel. However, during the show hours our space was always filled with interested consumers. There was never a shortage of customers to talk to. Sales at the show were good and we have months worth of leads to follow up with. Since the show we have had many customers order who had seen us at this show. The big attraction was our new Tuscany model. This is the first home show that we have featured the Tuscany model. Response to this new product was phenomenal. As customers would walk by the space they would notice this beautiful new model and "stop dead in their tracks" to admire the Tuscany. Many of the tickets written were for this model.

As usual, we had a competitor at the show. I believe that we truly frustrated them because of the continual crowd at our space, with only the occasional customer visiting their space. Those who compared the products were overwhelmingly impressed with the quality and beauty of the Wilding Wall Bed selection. It just proves over again that people want the quality and beauty that Wilding Wall Beds offers.

The next two Home shows we will be involved in are at the Las Vegas at the Cashman Center Sept. 22nd - 24th and Oct. 28th - 30th.

Wilding Wall Beds uses Non-toxic Furniture Grade Plywood

Wilding Wall Beds is concerned about "environmentally friendly" products. We are currently using Non-Toxic furniture grade ply wood and wood glue. In all of our construction, where it is available, we have gone to non-toxic products. This excerpt from the LA Times focuses on the issues surrounding selling formaldehyde based plywood in the United States.

U.S. Rules Allow the Sale of Products Others Ban

Chemical-laden goods outlawed in Europe and Japan are permitted in the American market.

"OAKLAND – Destined for American kitchens, planks of birch and poplar plywood are stacked to the ceiling of a cavernous port warehouse. The wood, which arrived in California via a cargo ship, carries two labels: One proclaims “Made in China,” while the other warns that it contains formaldehyde, a cancer-causing chemical.

Because formaldehyde wafts off the glues in this plywood, it is illegal to sell in many countries – even the one where it originated, China. But in the United States this wood is legal, and it is routinely crafted into cabinets and furniture."
