4. Which lift mechanism is better Gas Piston or Spring?
We don’t have to sell you on any specific mechanism because we carry both, and we offer a selection in either lift mechanism. So, if you have strong feelings one way or another, we can accommodate you. If you ask our opinion, from our years of experience and personal ownership of these products, We’ll guide you toward the Piston mechanism for these main reasons:
|
The piston mechanism simply out lasts the spring (more durable).
It’s quieter to use and sleep on.
It takes less space including: Standing depth, Width and Projection into the room.
The piston mechanism also offers additional safety in the home because of its patented Locking Leg Mechanism.

In most Utah, Southern Nevada and Southern California areas, we carry the product to your home on our own trucks.
8. How difficult is it to install a Wilding Wallbed?
Installation is very simple! We place fittings where needed to align the appropriate parts. All you have to do is tighten the fittings with a screwdriver, and then attach the Wallbed to your wall using the provided hardware. We include printed step by step assembly instructions with your shipment! We also have an installation DVD that you can view on line or we can send you your own personal copy. Installation time for most models is one to one and a half hours. Dakota and Eldorado models take approximately four hours. If at any time during the installation you feel that you need additional help, please don’t hesitate to call us directly. We have customer service available Monday – Saturday 8 am – 6 pm (Mountain Time).
9. What if I don’t want to install the Wallbed myself?
In some areas, we have professional “installers” that you can hire to install the Wallbed. We also can help you locate a qualified handyman in your area.
10. How is my Wilding Wallbed finished?
We use a multi-step deluxe hand finishing process plus a multi layer professional lacquer to produce a comfortable top quality furniture finish.
11. How do I care for my new Wilding Wallbed?
We offer a Wallbed Care Kit available to purchase that includes a “Non solvent” based Furniture cleaner / polish, Cleaning Cloth, Touch up kit including Stain Pen and Filler stick. Each of these products is environmentally safe.
12. If I ever move, can I take my Wilding Wallbed with me?
Yes! The Wallbed is removed from the wall by releasing the three screws used during installation. The bed is then free from the wall and can be moved where you would like it. With all of the quality techniques we employ during production, we intend your Wilding Wallbed to become a family heirloom.
13. Do I have to order cabinets with my Wallbed?
No. A Wilding Wallbed will function beautifully all by itself. Our Cabinet selection is designed to help you create the storage or function in the room that you need. Cabinets may also be customized. Please ask for details about special sizes or functions.
14. What do you mean by “Real Wood” or “All wood”?
We mean that it was once a tree! We use only solid woods and furniture grade ply woods. We don’t use any particle board or plastic finishes. Our products are not Thermofoil or Melamine or anything else the industry wants to call plastic and sawdust! This product is honest to goodness Wood!
15. Can I use my own mattress, or do I need to buy one from Wilding Wallbeds?
You can use your own mattress. Our product will accept any standard queen, full, full extra long, twin or twin extra long mattress up to 12” thick. Because, mattress companies engineer their mattress to be use in the “horizontal” position and your Wallbed will stand most of the time, we do suggest that you get a mattress that is designed in a way that it can stand with out “slumping” or “sagging” or having the coils or padding become detached from the boarder rod in the mattress. Our mattress selections have been hand selected because they are built in a way that they will function for years in a Wallbed situation. Our mattress selections are available more as a service to our customers than a profit center for the business. We want you and your guests to have a pleasant experience (comfort and durability) on your Wilding Wallbed.
16. Do I need to use a box spring?
No. The face of the bed in combination with the inner frame and mattress deck are unified in a way as to eliminate the need for a box spring. This saves you a lot of space in the room too. Having a box spring would require the Wallbed to be extremely deep. The whole concept of a Wallbed is to save space in the room. Wilding Wallbeds simply save more space than the competition.
17. Can I leave my sheets and blankets on the Wilding Wallbed?
Yes!
18. If I order a 20” deep bed can I put an extra thick mattress in my Wilding Wallbed?
Well, the answer is actually yes and no, let me explain. If necessary, we can customize our Wallbed to accommodate an extra thick mattress. The down side is that the customization requires us to modify or eliminate the internal headboard. The book shelf headboard is one of the main reasons that a person chooses the 20” deep Wallbed. One of the beautiful things about a Wilding Wallbed is that the headboard is right against the head of the mattress. This means that you won’t lose your pillow or anything else off the head of the mattress. While modifying the headboard to accommodate a deep mattress, it produces a gap between the head of the mattress and the headboard. The width of the gap is determined by how much modification is necessary to accommodate the mattress.
19. If I need a color sample, can I get one?
Yes. We will send samples to your home or office.
20. What is Alder wood?
Alder is a Northwestern Hardwood that looks very much like Birch, Maple or Cherry wood. Alder has been used in the production of fine furniture and cabinets for decades.
