Differences:
Standard Wilding Wallbeds come much more assembled and are less work to install. In place of the Dakota's metal mattress box, an all wood mattress box is used. The lift mechanism is also different. The Dakota Bed employs a spring driven system which is very smooth and easy to operate.
Wood Surround:
As with all Wilding Wallbeds, there are no particle board or laminate products used at all. This Dakota product is available in any of our standard 14 finishes. If the customer prefers, they also have the option of receiving the product as an unfinished wood surround, giving the customer the flexibility of staining and finishing the product themselves. This generally appeals to the "do-it-yourselfers". The Bed surround is built using a seven-band plywood product. The side cabinet construction is a combination of seven-band plywood and solid wood framing. These side pieces are optional.

Assembly:
Assembly of the Dakota Wall Bed is necessary. This is an RTA (Ready to Assemble) product, which means all parts furnished are finished and require assembly. All assembly hardware is included in the carton, and the Bed is shipped with the assembly and installation instructions. This product realistically takes 3- 4 hours to assemble and install. This product ships "Flat" meaning, none of the hardware is attached to the wood surround.
Mechanism:
The Dakota Murphy Bed uses the "Tilt-a-way" mechanism, which is a spring driven mechanism. This is a very durable mechanism, and actually offers some flexibility to the customer as to "ease of lift and operation". The spring mechanism has the flexibility of attaching more or fewer springs to make it easier or harder to lift. With some mattresses weighing more than others, this gives the customer the ability to attach the desired amount of springs to the bed. The more springs the easier to lift, the fewer the more difficult to lift. The supplied mattress box is a steel construction with steel slats that stretch from side to side on the internal face of the bed for support.
