Compare Wilding Wallbeds to All the Rest

Let me introduce myself, I am Robert Wilding, one of the owners of Wilding Wallbeds. I have worked in the furniture industry for 38 years, in management, sales, and manufacturing of wood products. I realize that you as the customer want to know what you are going to get for your dollar, and want to know if it is going to meet your family's needs. There are some issues that are confusing when you are trying to choose the right Wall Bed. Here are some of the differences you will find.

Compare Construction
Wilding Wallbeds uses only hand selected solid wood and top quality furniture grade plywood to construct the finest Murphy Beds on the market. Our side cabinets come fully assembled and are constructed using time proven techniques such as, dovetailed drawers, dado joints, fully inset drawer bottoms and fully inserted back panels. All of our side cabinets have solid wood face frames and European drawer glides and hinges. All our beds and side cabinets come with crown molding, (with the exception of the contemporary Chalet and Dakota styles). We never use PARTICLE BOARD, THERMOFOIL WRAP LAMINATE, AND/OR MELAMINE in our construction. Our side cabinets are not a knock down kit that needs assembly.
Wilding Wallbeds Drawer Boxes
Sometimes it's the little things that make all of the difference in the world. At Wilding Wallbeds, our drawers are just that type of difference. We have always believed that a cabinet is only as good as it's drawers. If and when a drawer breaks, the cabinet becomes worthless in our view, so We build the drawer boxes to last a lifetime. We begin by building the drawer box out of solid wood. This ensures the right start, but we don't stop there, We also "dove-tail" all four corners of the drawer box. This ensures that the four sides of the drawer will remain attached to each other. Next we "fully capture" the drawer bottom. This means that we insert the drawer bottom into all four sides of the drawer box. This ensures that the bottom of the drawer won't fall out. Lastly we use the finest drawer glides in the industry. In our Economy and Original products, we us full extension ball baring glides. In our Gallery Series product we use, not only full extension, but "Soft Close" glides as well. This soft close takes over as the drawer is pushed into approximately an inch from the cabinet face and closes the drawer for you in a whisper quiet motion.
All of Wilding Wallbeds cabinets are constructed with sturdy Dadoed and Rabbit grooves. The front of the cabinet is covered with 1 1/2" hardwood face frame and routered according to the specific style.

| The following list defines frequently used terms by other wall bed companies to disguise particle board.
|
| TERM USED | DEFINITION OF TERM |
| THERMOFOIL WRAP: | Thermofoil wrap starts with MDF (medium density fiber) board which is highly compressed paper type fiber. It is then shaped to look like an expensive raised panel door. It is then covered with a paper thin sheet of vinyl (plastic), usually less than 1/64 of an inch thick. This wrap has a pressed grain look (to simulate solid wood) and is heated up and applied to the MDF to achieve the look of a solid wood raised panel door at a fraction of the cost.
|
| MELAMINE: | Melamine is just a basic particle board (saw dust chips and glue mixture) with an extremely thin sheet of vinyl (plastic), usually less than 1/64 of an inch, which has a pressed grain look (to simulate real wood) and applied to a flat sheet of particle board.
|
| LAMINATE: | Laminate refers to a very thin plastic surface which is then applied to one of several different types of particle board.
|
| The inherent problems with constructing furniture out of one of the aforementioned products are that they are very susceptible to moisture damage. It is very easy to scratch off the thin plastic laminate and nearly impossible to repair. Any truthful cabinet builder knows that screws don't hold very well in particle board type products.
